Press Release

January 11, 2001

FaxAction Chosen by The Clarion-Ledger, The Morning Call and The Tulsa World.

Auburn  —January 11, 2001 — The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, MS (daily circ. 105,382),  The Tulsa World, in Tulsa, OK (daily circ. 162,186), and the Morning Call in Allentown, PA (daily circ. 106,349), have chosen FaxAction’s integrated Fax-OCR-Email system to automate ad creation from email, hardcopy and faxed-in advertisements. FaxAction replaces the need to rekey ad copy into the front-end publishing system, thereby reducing production costs and wasted manpower spent retyping and correcting customer ads. The use of FaxAction’s on-line capabilities allow a customer to prefill an ad form on the newspaper’s web site and submit it for publishing.

“The value of automating a costly and time consuming process such as retyping ad text makes FaxAction an easy purchase to justify.  Customers readily understand the value of reducing lost revenue from typing errors, make goods, overtime and lost calls caused by the typical Friday influx of faxed ads,” stated Jan McDonald, C.E.O. of Nova Publishing Products.

The Clarion-Ledger is using FaxAction integration for their Digital Technologies advertising system with Mac-based clients and The Morning Call and  Tulsa World have integrated FaxActon into their Sii advertising system which uses PC-based clients.  FaxAction is currently installed in dozens of US Daily newpapers including the Cincinnati Enquirer, The San Francisco Chronicle, the Sacramento Bee and the St. Cloud Times, and is currently integrated into publishing systems from Harris Publishing, Advanced Publishing Technologies, System Integrators Inc., Digital Technologies International, Unisys, and others.

Nova has also recently expanded its relationship with Competent Technologies Inc., of  Sacramento, CA., the software developer of the FaxAction application. This expanded relationship allows the two companies to focus their combined experience and technical expertise on enhancing FaxAction support and development. An example of this expanded relationship was the installation and training recently performed at the Morning Call in Allentown, Pa.  Competent Technologies provided an integrated training and installation process that went from installation to training and live use within one week. In the words of the customer “this was one of the easiest installations we have ever had.” Today, Competent Technologies Inc., and Nova Publishing Products Inc., provide software and hardware solutions to hundreds of daily and weekly newspapers around the world.
